![]() ![]() She knew Callie loved Garrett - maybe she hoped he would grow to love Callie. He married Callie at her mother's request to keep Callie's ranch safe after her death. He thinks he's an honourable man but he wasn't he might have been good looking but he came across as very selfish. Now for what I didn't like, Garrett the main guy in this story was, well for want of a better word, he was a jerk, he hurt Callie over and over again. Even the animals who play a large part in this story, especially Nanny and Pirate, become so familiar you feel you want to reach out and hug them. The characters were incredibly well defined and you felt like you knew them. Firstly I'll tell you what I liked: The descriptions of the ranches and the surrounding areas were very well done, I could feel the heat, I could smell the bluebonnets, I closed my eyes and I was transported. The storyline involved, murder, intrigue, greed, deceit, lies and love so it had everything going for it but. I am sad to say that I had to make myself keep listening. I wanted to listen to this book because the "blurb" sounded good and the narrator Meghan Kelly is a particular favorite of mine. ![]()
